A Confrontation Amidst Luxury

The afternoon sun glistened off the crystal champagne flutes at the annual summer gala hosted by Arthur Vance. As one of the city's most prominent real estate moguls, Arthur spared no expense to maintain his image of flawless success. His manicured lawns were filled with wealthy socialites, politicians, and business partners, all laughing and networking under the shade of massive white silk tents. Arthur, looking distinguished in a tailored navy blazer, smiled warmly at his guests, basking in the glory of his achievements.

But the pristine atmosphere was abruptly shattered when a young man stumbled onto the terrace. He wore a faded, worn-out t-shirt, dirty jeans, and scuffed sneakers. In his trembling hands, he clutched a simple, cheap wooden flute. He looked utterly out of place among the glittering crowd, his eyes wide with fear and desperation. Spotting the intruder, Arthur’s warm expression instantly hardened into ice. He marched toward the young man, his voice booming over the soft classical music playing in the background.

"Hey! Get him out of here!" Arthur shouted, pointing an angry, manicured finger at the boy. "Security, escort this trespasser off my property immediately!"

The young man, whose name was Julian, didn't run. Instead, tears welled in his eyes as he looked at the powerful billionaire. He took a step forward, his voice cracking with raw emotion.

"Please, sir, I need money," Julian pleaded, holding the wooden flute tightly against his chest. "My mom is gravely sick, and we can't afford her medicine. I just need a chance."

Arthur felt no pity. To him, the boy was nothing but an eyesore disrupting his perfect event. He sneered coldly, looking down his nose at Julian's desperate state.

"Then earn it," Arthur replied, his voice dripping with condescension. "Play."

Julian’s hands shook. He didn't raise the flute to his lips. Instead, he reached slowly into his pocket and pulled out a small, faded piece of paper. He stepped forward and placed it directly into Arthur's hand. It was a vintage photograph. Arthur glanced down carelessly, but as his eyes focused on the image, his entire body went rigid. The photo showed a young, smiling couple holding a newborn baby. The young man in the photo was undeniably Arthur, twenty years younger, and the woman beside him was Marianne—the only woman he had ever truly loved.

"Where... where did you get this?" Arthur whispered in complete shock, his voice suddenly losing all its authority.

Julian looked up, tears streaming down his pale cheeks.

"My mother said you'd know your son," Julian replied softly.
