The grand estate of the Harrison family always felt more like a museum than a home. On that fateful Tuesday afternoon, the silence of the alder-wood paneled hallway was shattered. Helena, the twenty-six-year-old nanny, was carrying a stack of freshly pressed linens when a sudden, crushing weight pressed down on her chest. Her vision blurred, the glittering crystal chandeliers above spinning into dizzying halos of light. With a soft gasp, she collapsed onto the traditional red patterned rug, the linens scattering around her like fallen snow.

From his study, forty-three-year-old Richard Harrison heard the heavy thud. He rushed into the hallway, his midnight blue suit sharp but his expression filled with immediate dread. Beside him was his eight-year-old son, Leo, whose eyes welled with instant tears at the sight of Helena motionless on the floor.

"Dad, help her! She's the only one who cares about us!" Leo cried out, his voice cracking with pure panic.

Richard immediately dropped to his knees, cradling Helena’s head in his hands. Her platinum blonde hair was splayed across the dark red wool. He felt her weak, erratic pulse, his heart hammering against his ribs.

"Breathe, Helena. Stay with me," Richard whispered, his voice laced with a raw, desperate emotion that surprised even himself.

As Richard gently shifted her to ease her breathing, the delicate gold chain around Helena's neck snapped. A small, heavy locket slid across the polished floorboards. Leo, wiping his tears, reached out and picked it up. The clasp had broken open upon impact. Inside, nestled against the velvet lining, was a vintage photograph of a young Richard.Leo looked up, his face pale with utter confusion.

"Dad... Dad, why does Helena have your picture?"

Richard stared at the tiny photograph, the world around him fading into a ringing silence.
