The annual winter gala of the Vance family was always a spectacle of unmatched opulence. Under the massive crystal chandelier of the gilded ballroom, the wealthy crowd mingled in designer silk and tailored tuxedos. Hannah sat quietly in her motorized wheelchair, wearing an elegant azure blue dress. Though she was surrounded by luxury, her eyes were vacant, staring at the polished marble floor. Since the tragic accident three years ago, she had been a prisoner of her own body, her dreams of being a professional dancer shattered.

Suddenly, the heavy mahogany doors of the ballroom swung open, cutting the classical music short. A young man stepped inside, looking entirely out of place. It was Tyler. He wore a tattered grey vest over a faded shirt, his boots dusty, his hands rough and calloused. The crowd gasped, whispering in hushed, judgmental tones as he walked directly toward Hannah. David, Hannah's father, immediately stepped forward, his face hardening with protective rage.

Tyler ignored the hostile stares and knelt directly before Hannah's wheelchair. Looking up at the man who had banished him years ago, Tyler pleaded softly, "Please. Let me dance with her."

David stood protectively over his daughter, his frame tense under his expensive tuxedo. He glared down at the young man.

"Step away from my daughter,"

Tyler stood up, refusing to back down. He looked from David to Hannah, his voice unwavering. "She wants to dance," he replied defiantly.

David's face twisted into a skeptical scowl. He demanded,

"Why should I trust you?"

Tyler looked back down at Hannah, his eyes softening with an old, familiar warmth. "Because she's been waiting," he answered softly. He extended his hand to Hannah, his palm open. "Take my hand."
