My Husband Kicked His Wealthy Mother Out After Finding Me Crying in the Kitchen
A Night of Broken Celebrations
The soft glow of the chandeliers in the open-concept kitchen did nothing to warm Lily’s heart. Outside in the lush courtyard, laughter and clinking glasses of expensive champagne echoed. It was Tyler’s promotion party, a milestone they had both worked tirelessly to achieve. Yet, while the guests celebrated, Lily stood before a mountain of dirty dishes, tears streaming down her face, staining her cheeks. She wore a heavy beige apron over her elegant dress, her blonde hair falling in messy strands from her bun.
Suddenly, the glass door slid open. Tyler stepped in, his navy blue blazer slightly rumpled, his eyes scanning the room until they landed on his weeping wife. His mother, Margaret, followed closely behind, her silver silk dress shimmering under the kitchen lights, her face a mask of cold indifference.
"What's going on here?"
Tyler’s voice boomed over the distant music, laced with confusion and rising anger. Margaret scoffed, waving a manicured hand dismissively.
"Don't be so dramatic, Tyler. She just wanted to feel useful. Someone had to clean up, after all."
Ignoring his mother, Tyler stepped closer to Lily. Gently, almost reverently, he began to untie the apron from her waist. He looked deep into her eyes, his voice softening. "Look at me, Lily. Did you really want to wash dishes during the party?"
Lily looked up, her shoulders shaking with heavy, painful sobs.
"No," Lily whispered, her voice cracking. "She told me that my place was in the kitchen because I'm just the mother of your daughter, and that I'd never truly belong in your social circle."
A dark shadow crossed Tyler’s face. The realization of his mother's cruelty hit him like a physical blow. He spun around, pointing a trembling but firm finger at Margaret.
"My party is over," Tyler demanded, his voice dangerously low. "Get out of my house. Now."
Without waiting for Margaret’s outrage, Tyler pulled Lily into a tight, comforting hug, shielding her from his mother's venomous glare.
