My Greedy Stepson Left Me to Drown at Sea but I Survived for Revenge
The Cold Edge of Greed
The ocean breeze was crisp and clean, but the tension on the deck of the Silver Star was thick enough to cut with a knife. Edith, elegant in her teal dress, stood near the polished brass railing of the luxury yacht. She looked at her stepson, Robert, who wore a sharp black blazer, and his wife, Claire, draped in a charcoal dress. They had expected a pleasant cruise to celebrate Robert's business ventures. Instead, they were facing a reckoning.
Edith had spent years watching her late husband’s son squander his inheritance. Now, she was putting her foot down.
"I’ve made up my mind," Edith said, her voice steady despite the tremor in her hands. "The estate will be restructured. The majority of the funds will go to the children's foundation. You will receive a modest stipend, but no more."

Robert’s face contorted in fury. Claire stepped forward, her eyes narrowing into slits.
"You can't do this, Edith! That money belongs to this family!" Claire hissed, stepping dangerously close.
As Robert raised his voice, shouting over the hum of the engine, Edith instinctively took a step back. Her heel caught on a slick, recently washed section of the fiberglass deck. She lost her footing, her arms flailing as she tipped backward over the low railing.
The fall was agonizingly slow. Edith reached out, her fingers brushing the cold metal, but there was nothing to hold onto. She plunged into the dark, freezing Atlantic. Splashing face-first into the icy water, she struggled to the surface, coughing and gasping for air. Looking up, she saw Robert and Claire leaning over the railing. They weren't reaching for the life ring. They were simply staring down at her with cold, calculated indifference. They were going to let her drown.
