I Caught My Best Friend In My Bed, But The Truth Was Far Worse
Chloe’s heels clicked softly against the hardwood floor of the entryway, the sound muffled by the heavy silence of the house. She had been scheduled to fly to Chicago for a high-stakes corporate conference, but a sudden blizzard had grounded all flights. Tired and disappointed, she had taken a forty-minute cab ride back to the suburbs, looking forward to curling up in bed with her husband, Mark.
But as she reached the top of the stairs, a strange sensation crept down her spine. The house felt different. It was the middle of a workday, yet Mark’s car was parked in the driveway, and the front door had been unlocked.

She walked down the hallway, her heart beginning to thud against her ribs. When she reached the master bedroom, the door was slightly ajar. She pushed it open, and the world seemed to tilt on its axis.
There, lying under the plush, white duvet of her own bed, was Sarah.
Sarah, her best friend since childhood. Sarah, the woman she had taken in three months ago after a bitter divorce. Sarah was wearing Chloe's favorite white silk slip, her strawberry blonde hair splayed across Chloe’s pillow.
Chloe stood frozen at the foot of the bed, her body trembling under her black lace camisole. The betrayal was a physical weight, pressing down on her chest until she couldn't breathe. Sarah’s eyes fluttered open, and the moment she registered Chloe’s presence, her face drained of all color.
Rage, hot and blinding, replaced the shock. Chloe didn't ask questions. She didn't demand explanations. With a raw, guttural cry, she grabbed the edge of the heavy duvet and yanked it off the bed, exposing her betrayer.
"Get out!" Chloe screamed, her voice cracking with a mix of fury and agony. "Get out of my house right now!"
Sarah scrambled backward, her hands clawing at the empty air. But instead of crying or apologizing, a slow, chilling smirk began to form on her lips.
