A Snobbish Heiress Cruelly Shamed a Crying Girl, but a Tiny Pearl Changed Everything
A Cruel Scene in the Ballroom
The grand ballroom of the Meridian Estate was a sea of glittering light, soft blue uplighting, and high-society chatter. Victoria, a wealthy heiress in her late twenties, stood under the massive crystal chandeliers in her shimmering sky-blue sequined gown. Her face, usually poised and beautiful, was twisted in pure, unadulterated disgust. At her feet, a tiny six-year-old girl named Isabella crouched on the cold marble floor. Isabella was dressed in a simple white satin dress, her face stained with tears as her small hands desperately scrambled to pick up dozens of scattered white pearls.
"Get this trash out of here!" Victoria hissed, her voice cutting through the soft orchestral music like a knife. "Only gold shines here. You do not belong in a place of luxury."
The surrounding guests whispered and turned away, refusing to intervene. But Liam, a handsome man in his early thirties dressed in a sharp black tuxedo, could not stand by and watch such cruelty. He stepped forward from the crowd, his heart aching at the sight of the weeping child. He knelt down onto the polished floor beside Isabella, offering her a comforting smile. "Are you alright, sweetheart? Let me help you," he said softly.
As Liam reached out to pick up one of the scattered pearls, his fingers brushed against a strange texture on its surface. He lifted the pearl closer to his eyes, and his heart instantly stopped. It was not a normal pearl. Engraved on its delicate surface was an intricate, unmistakable crest of a rising phoenix.
"This crest..." Liam whispered, his voice trembling with a mixture of shock and recognition. "It belongs to my family. How do you have this?"
Isabella looked up at him, her chest heaving with tiny, trembling sobs. "My mommy gave it to me before she went to heaven," she whispered, clutching her small velvet pouch.
Liam stared at the pearl, then back at the little girl's face. The striking resemblance to his late mother was suddenly undeniable. He looked up at Victoria, his eyes wide with absolute shock and rising fury.
"She's my sister!"
