It was the annual charity gala, an event where Victoria Sterling was accustomed to shining. Wearing a custom-tailored deep plum velvet gown that exuded elegance, she held her seven-year-old son Toby’s hand, smiling for the photographers. Toby suddenly wrenched his hand away from Victoria’s grasp. His small face contorted with a mixture of fear and defiance as he took a step back, his eyes locked onto Clara, the family's quiet nanny who stood nearby in her pastel blue uniform.
