Previously: Admiral Charles believed his daughter Amanda was lost forever in a failed covert operation. But when she suddenly appears on his active naval base, a shocking conspiracy begins to unfold.

The Viper in the Ranks

After the silent salute, Admiral Charles quickly composed himself. He gestured for Amanda to follow him, leading her away from the curious eyes of his staff and into the secure confines of his private office. The heavy wooden door clicked shut, locking out the noise of the base. The moment they were alone, the formal military facade cracked.

"Amanda, how is this possible?" Charles breathed, his hands shaking as he reached out to touch her shoulder, as if to prove she was real. "We held a memorial. We buried an empty casket. I thought I lost you forever."

Amanda let out a shaky breath, finally letting her guard down. "The mission in the Pacific wasn't a failure due to bad weather or mechanical error, Dad. We were set up. Someone leaked our coordinates to a hostile syndicate. I survived, but I knew that if I came back, whoever did it would finish the job. I had to stay dead to find the truth."

Charles felt a chill run down his spine. "And you found them?"

Amanda nodded, pulling an encrypted flash drive from her trench coat. "The leak came from inside your own inner circle. And they are planning to transmit the fleet’s new defense codes tonight."

Before Charles could process the devastating revelation, a sharp, authoritative knock rattled the office door. The voice of Captain Harrison, Charles's closest confidant and advisor, boomed from the hallway.

"Admiral? Security flagged an unauthorized civilian contractor entering your sector. Is everything alright in there?"

Amanda's eyes locked onto her father's, filled with urgent warning. "It's him, Dad," she whispered. "Harrison is the mole."

Charles stood frozen. Harrison had been his friend for twenty years. Now, he had to make a choice: trust his resurrected daughter, or the man who had stood by his side through a dozen campaigns.
