The opulent departure lounge of a Parisian chateau felt like a gilded cage.

Rain lashed against the arched windows, distorting the runway lights into blurry constellations. Inside, the air hung thick with the scent of beeswax and desperation.

Airline Supervisor Denies Dying Child Passage, Then a Captain Steps In

Julian, the airline supervisor, stood ramrod straight in his immaculate uniform, a sneer etched onto his thin lips. His eyes, cold and dismissive, were fixed on Dr. Elena Vance.

She clutched her four-month-old daughter, a tiny bundle shivering with fever, against her chest. The child’s labored breaths were a stark contrast to the room’s hushed grandeur.

Julian snatched Elena’s passport and boarding pass with a gesture of utter contempt. "Invalid emergency clearance," he spat, his voice dripping with condescension. "You and this sick child will be detained for immediate deportation."

Elena remained silent, her lips pressed into a thin line, only the hitch in her breath and the tremor in her fingers betraying her terror. Tears welled, blurring her vision as she instinctively pulled her baby closer.

"Please," Elena finally whispered, her voice cracking with a sob that threatened to consume her. "My daughter’s heart surgeon is waiting in London tonight. She will not survive until morning."

Her chin quivered, her lower lip trembling uncontrollably. Julian merely rolled his eyes, tapping his gold fountain pen against a clipboard with callous indifference. He didn't see a mother's plea; he saw a problem to be eliminated.

With a flick of his wrist, Julian ripped the medical authorization in two. The torn pieces fluttered to the polished parquet floor like fallen leaves. He signaled two imposing guards lurking by the velvet drapes.

"Security," he commanded with ruthless finality, "remove this vagrant from my boarding gate immediately." Elena’s eyes widened in horrified disbelief. Her knees buckled, a silent gasp escaping her throat as paralyzed dread washed over her.
