Previously: When Sarah tried to humiliate Marcus in front of the entire office by claiming his luxury Porsche as her own, she had no idea who he really was.

The Unmasking of a Pretender

A tense silence fell over the parking lot as Marcus withdrew his hand from his pocket. In his palm rested a genuine, custom-programmed key fob. With a quiet click, he pressed the unlock button. Instantly, the Porsche's headlights flashed, the mirrors unfolded, and the powerful engine roared to life with a deep, throaty growl. The exhaust note echoed off the glass walls of the skyscraper.

Sarah stared at the vehicle, her face draining of all color. The key fob she had been holding was nothing more than a cheap replica she had bought online to impress her colleagues and secure her social standing. Her hand trembled, and she quickly tried to hide her fake keys behind her back, but it was too late. Everyone had seen her bluff get called in the most public way possible.

"This... this is a mistake!" Sarah stammered, her voice cracking as the onlookers began to whisper. "You must have some kind of signal jammer. You're trying to steal this car!"

Before Marcus could answer, the heavy glass doors of the skyscraper swung open. A delegation of senior executives, led by the company's president, Mr. Henderson, walked briskly toward the parking lot. Sarah's eyes lit up with desperate hope. She rushed toward them, pointing an accusing finger at Marcus.

"Mr. Henderson! Thank goodness you're here!" she cried out. "This courier is trying to steal a vehicle! He has some device that bypassed the security system!"

Mr. Henderson didn't even glance at Sarah. He walked right past her, stopping directly in front of Marcus. The older executive bowed his head in deep respect, shocking the entire crowd of onlookers.

"Good evening, Mr. Sterling," Henderson said clearly. "The board is assembled and waiting for you in the conference room. The acquisition documents for the merger are ready for your signature."

The words hung in the air like a thunderclap. Marcus wasn't a delivery boy. He was Marcus Sterling, the billionaire heir and the newly appointed CEO of the entire conglomerate. The cardboard box he held contained his personal archives, which he preferred to carry himself.
