Previously: When Lieutenant Kyle Carter tried to humiliate Sarah in a room full of pilots, he thought she was just an interloper. He had no idea she was about to change his life forever.

A Sudden Shift in Power

Before Kyle could utter another condescending remark, the heavy double doors at the back of the auditorium swung open. A sharp voice boomed through the speakers.

"Attention on deck!"

Instantly, the entire room snapped to attention. Chairs scraped against the floor as dozens of pilots stood rigid, eyes locked forward. General Vance, a decorated four-star general with a reputation for absolute discipline, marched down the center aisle. His presence was commanding, and even the arrogant Kyle Carter seemed to shrink slightly in his posture.

General Vance didn't stop until he reached the front podium. He didn't look at the rows of pilots; instead, his eyes found Sarah. He gave her a brief, respectful nod before turning to address the room.

"At ease," the General commanded. "As you all know, Operation Red Horizon is the most critical mission this squadron has faced in a decade. It requires precision, discipline, and above all, elite leadership."

Kyle puffed his chest out, clearly expecting to hear his own name or perhaps his father's old call sign. But General Vance’s next words shattered his illusions completely.

"To ensure absolute success, High Command has appointed a new Squadron Commander. She is a highly decorated combat veteran with over two thousand hours of tactical flight time. Gentlemen, meet Major Sarah Jenkins. She will have ultimate authority over this operation."

The silence that followed was deafening. Sarah stepped up to the podium, her eyes locking directly onto Kyle. The young lieutenant's face had gone completely pale. The smug, arrogant smirk was entirely gone, replaced by a look of sheer horror. He had just publicly insulted and demeaned his new commanding officer.

Sarah let the silence stretch for several agonizing seconds, letting the weight of his mistake settle over him.

"Thank you, General," Sarah said, her voice echoing clearly. "Now, let's discuss our first order of business."
