An Arrogant Pilot Tried to Humiliate Me in Front of Our Entire Squadron
Previously: When Lieutenant Carter tried to dismiss Jessica as a mere "coffee girl" in front of the entire squadron, he had no idea who she actually was—or what was coming.
A Lesson in True Leadership
Carter stood up, his face flushed with a mixture of rage and embarrassment.
"General, with all due respect, this is a mistake!" Carter protested loudly, ignoring protocol. "She's been doing administrative paperwork for months. She isn't fit to lead a mission of this scale!"
General Vance’s eyes narrowed, but before the General could discipline the insubordinate lieutenant, Jessica held up a hand, signaling that she would handle it. She stepped up to the podium and looked directly at Carter.

"Lieutenant Carter," Jessica said, her voice commanding the entire room. "You think my time on light duty defines my capability? Let's test that theory. Right now."
She pulled up the flight simulator coordinates on the main screen—a complex, high-altitude maneuver that Carter had failed to complete during training the previous week.
"If you can simulate this flight path on your first try, I will step down and hand you the command," Jessica challenged. "But if you fail, you will be grounded for the duration of Mission Apex."
The room was silent as Carter, desperate to save face, stepped up to the simulator console. Within three minutes of the simulated flight, his virtual aircraft caught a crosswind and crashed. The room remained dead silent.
Jessica stepped up to the controls. With fluid, effortless precision, she navigated the simulation, executing the impossible maneuver perfectly on her first attempt. When she finished, she turned to face the stunned lieutenant.
Carter lowered his head, utterly humbled.
"I... I apologize, Major," Carter stammered, saluting her with genuine respect. "I was out of line."
Jessica accepted his salute with a firm nod. She had not only defended her honor, but she had also earned the unquestioned respect of her entire squadron. Under her flawless leadership, Mission Apex was executed without a single casualty, proving once and for all that true authority is earned through competence, respect, and character—not through arrogance.
