Previously: When a polished black casket with a red bow was delivered to Heather and Brandon's forest wedding, they laughed it off as a sick joke—until they opened it.

Determined not to let his mother's sick joke ruin their wedding, Brandon stepped toward the casket. The guests held their breath as he reached out and grabbed the polished brass handle.

"Let's see what kind of game she's playing today," Brandon whispered, his voice laced with defiant resolve.

He heaved the heavy lid open. The laughter instantly died in their throats. Resting inside the casket was a highly detailed, lifelike wax mannequin of Brandon, dressed in an identical grey suit. In its stiff hands, it clutched a ticking vintage grandfather clock and a thick legal document.

Before anyone could speak, the roar of a powerful engine echoed through the trees. A sleek black sedan tore into the clearing, kicking up a cloud of dust. Out stepped Eleanor, dressed in a sharp designer suit, accompanied by Brandon’s bitter ex-fiancée, Sarah, and a team of high-priced lawyers.

The Ambush at the Altar

Eleanor marched down the aisle, her heels sinking into the soft dirt. She looked at the casket, then at her son with a cold, triumphant smile.

"Did you really think you could discard your family legacy for her, Brandon?" Eleanor sneered, gesturing toward Heather. "Your late father’s trust has a strict residency and behavior clause. By holding this wedding on this specific land, you have violated the terms."

Sarah stepped forward, holding up a duplicate deed.

"This forest land was quietly purchased by my family's holding company last week," Sarah explained smugly. "You are currently trespassing. And under the terms of the trust, your entire inheritance now reverts directly to me."

The lead lawyer opened his briefcase, presenting a pen to Brandon.

"Sign the waiver now, Brandon, and we won't press charges for trespassing," the lawyer demanded. "Otherwise, we will have the sheriff remove you and your guests in handcuffs."

Heather’s heart sank. Eleanor had planned this ambush perfectly, turning their dream wedding into a legal trap designed to strip Brandon of everything he owned. Brandon stood his ground, his face pale but his eyes burning with fury.
