Previously: When a young boy approached Elena at a cafe and showed her a unique hair clip, her heart stopped. It belonged to her twin sister who had vanished ten years ago.

Elena abandoned her purse and coffee, grabbing the boy's hand as they rushed away from the cafe. The boy, who introduced himself as Leo, led her toward the dense woods on the edge of town. He explained that his mother was very sick and had been living in hiding for years. Elena's mind was a storm of questions. Why had Clara hidden? Why did their parents hold a funeral and bury an empty casket? The pieces of her family's past were crumbling into a dark conspiracy.

The Shadow of the Patriarch

As they reached the tree line, a sleek black sedan abruptly pulled up. The door opened, and Marcus, her father's personal bodyguard, stepped out. His eyes locked onto Leo, then shifted to Elena with a cold, warning look.

"Elena, your father wants you to return home immediately. Do not go into those woods,"
he said, his hand sliding ominously toward his jacket pocket.

Leo whimpered, shrinking behind Elena. Realizing her father was somehow monitoring them, a wave of protective fury washed over Elena. She grabbed Leo's hand and bolted into the thick foliage. Behind them, they could hear Marcus crashing through the branches in pursuit. They ran blindly until they reached a small, dilapidated cabin hidden beneath towering pines. Elena pushed the creaking door open and stepped into the dim, dusty interior.

On a makeshift bed in the corner lay a frail, pale woman. When she turned her head, Elena gasped. It was Clara. Despite the years and the illness, the resemblance was undeniable.

"Elena, you found him,"
Clara whispered, tears streaming down her hollow cheeks. But before they could even embrace, the cabin door slammed open. Standing in the doorway was Arthur, their father, clutching his silver-headed cane.
"I told you to stay dead, Clara,"
he said coldly, stepping inside.
"And now you've brought Elena into this mess."
