Previously: When a crying boy interrupted William and Grace at a high-society gala, holding a tattered photo of William's long-lost first love, a decade of buried family secrets began to unravel.

The Confrontation at the Hospital

Ignoring the security guards and the murmurs of the crowd, William knelt down to the boy’s eye level. He looked closely at the child's features—the stubborn chin, the deep blue eyes. They were identical to his own.

"What is your name?"
William asked, his voice shaking.

"Danny,"
the boy sobbed.
"My mom is really sick. She’s in the hospital, and she told me I had to find you. She said you were my father."

Grace looked at her husband, her eyes filled with confusion and hurt.

"William, what is he talking about? Who is Emily?"

William insisted on leaving the gala immediately. Despite Grace's protests, they drove Danny to a bleak, underfunded public hospital on the edge of town. There, in a sterile room, they found Emily. She was pale and weak, hooked up to monitors. When she saw William, tears filled her eyes.

she whispered.

Before they could speak further, the door slammed open. Helen, William’s mother, strode into the room, flanked by two corporate lawyers. Her face was a mask of cold fury.

"William, get away from these people,"
Helen commanded, gesturing to the lawyers.
"This girl is nothing but a scammer. I settled this years ago. If you acknowledge this child or sign any financial support, I will personally see to it that you are completely disinherited from the family trust."

The room fell into a tense, suffocating silence as the lawyers stepped forward with legal documents, waiting for William's surrender.
