Previously: When a disheveled boy crashed a high-society garden party claiming the food was poisoned, Lawrence thought it was a prank—until his bodyguard whispered a chilling truth.

The Secrets of the Purse

With a swift movement, Lawrence pulled the clutch away from Diana’s desperate grasp and snapped open the golden clasp. Inside, nestled next to her expensive lipstick and keys, was a folded glossy photograph. Lawrence pulled it out, his hands shaking as he unfolded the paper. The image chilled him to the bone. It was Diana, smiling warmly, with her arm wrapped around Marcus—Lawrence’s former business partner who had been sent to prison five years prior for massive corporate embezzlement.

The date stamped on the back of the photo was from just two weeks ago. Marcus was supposed to be behind bars, but here he was, free and in the arms of the woman Lawrence was about to marry.

Diana stumbled backward, her face completely pale as she realized her elaborate web of lies was collapsing. Carter stepped closer to Lawrence, seeking refuge behind the businessman's imposing frame.

"She's my mother," Carter whispered, tears welling in his eyes. "She abandoned me to be with Marcus. I heard them talking last night. They planned to poison you so she could inherit everything!"

Before anyone could react, the peaceful atmosphere was violently shattered. A heavy black SUV crashed through the estate's security gates, roaring onto the manicured lawn and tearing up the turf. The vehicle slammed to a halt just yards from the reception tables. The door flew open, and Marcus himself stepped out, brandishing a heavy iron tire iron, his eyes wild with desperation.

"Give me the boy, Lawrence, and let Diana go!" Marcus roared, stepping forward menacingly. "Or nobody leaves this garden alive!"

Gregory immediately drew his firearm, stepping in front of Lawrence and Carter, while the wedding guests scrambled in terror, screaming and running for cover.
