The Warning on the Lawn

The afternoon sun beat down on the manicured lawns of the Sterling estate, casting long shadows near the private helipad. The roar of the helicopter blades drowned out the distant chatter of wealthy guests attending the annual summer gala. Arthur Sterling, a distinguished self-made billionaire, adjusted his tuxedo jacket as he walked toward the aircraft, ready for a quick business trip to Manhattan. Beside him walked Eleanor, his beautiful blonde wife, her silk cocktail dress whispering against her legs as she smiled up at him with perfect devotion.

Suddenly, the peaceful atmosphere was shattered. Toby, a twenty-two-year-old stable hand, came sprinting across the lawn. His white shirt was torn and stained with dirt, and a stream of dark red blood dripped from his swollen nose. He was gasping for air, his eyes wide with sheer terror as he pushed past the manicured hedges and ran directly toward the couple.

"Sir, sir! Don't get on that helicopter!" Toby screamed, his voice cracked with desperation. "Your wife put a bomb inside!"

Arthur froze, his hand stopping inches from the helicopter door. He turned to look at the young man, confusion etching deep lines into his face. But Eleanor’s reaction was instantaneous. Her warm smile vanished, replaced by a cold, sharp glare that could cut through glass. She stepped in front of her husband, her posture rigid with anger.

"But what on earth are you saying, crazy boy?" Eleanor snapped, her voice dripping with venomous authority. "Go back to the stables where you belong. You are completely out of your mind!"

Toby shook his head frantically, wiping the blood from his face with the back of his hand. He knew he looked wild, but he also knew the clock was ticking. He looked directly at Arthur, ignoring the terrifying glare coming from the billionaire's wife.

"If you don't believe me, sir, ask her to get on the helicopter with you right now," Toby pleaded.

The words hung heavily in the warm afternoon air. Arthur slowly turned his head to look at his wife. For the first time, a shadow of deep suspicion crossed the older man's eyes, locking onto Eleanor's suddenly pale face.
