Previously: When Specialist Amanda Vance stood at attention with a severe black eye, General Harrison demanded answers. Her quiet defiance sparked a chain reaction that threatened to tear the base apart.

The Dangerous Setup

Inside the mahogany-paneled office, General Harrison closed the heavy door, shutting out the rest of the world. He didn't raise his voice; instead, he walked over to his desk and pulled out a thick, classified file. Amanda stood at attention, her heart hammering against her ribs as she prepared to confess everything she had discovered at the supply depot.

"At ease, Specialist," Harrison said, his voice weary. "Tell me everything." Amanda did not hesitate. She detailed the missing tactical gear, the unauthorized midnight shipments, and how Sergeant Miller had brutally assaulted her when she caught him loading civilian trucks. She expected immediate arrests, but the General’s reaction shocked her.

"I know about the missing inventory, Vance," General Harrison revealed quietly, opening the folder to reveal photos of high-ranking base officers. "Sergeant Miller is just a small cog in a much larger machine. If I arrest him now, the masterminds—officers sitting in this very building—will destroy the evidence and vanish. I need the ringleaders."

He looked at Amanda with a solemn intensity. "I need you to go back out there. Act as if nothing has changed. If Miller believes you kept quiet out of fear, he will proceed with his final, massive shipment tonight. We will be waiting to catch them all. But it requires you to play the victim a little longer. Are you willing to take that risk?"

Amanda knew the danger was immense, but her honor wouldn't let her back down. She agreed. However, the plan went sideways the moment she returned to the depot. Miller was waiting for her in the shadows of the empty warehouse. He had seen her enter the General's office and wasn't taking any chances.

Locking the heavy steel doors behind him, Miller cornered Amanda against the towering shelves. He pulled a heavy iron wrench from his belt, his eyes wild with desperate rage.

"You thought you were safe, Vance?" Miller sneered. "Now, we're going to make sure you never speak again."
