Bullies Cruelly Ruined an Old Man's Fishing Trip, Unaware He Owned Their Entire Town
Previously: Three young town bullies thought they could intimidate a quiet old man on a misty lake dock, but they had no idea who he really was—or the power he held over their families.
The Price of Arrogance
Thomas stood up slowly, his tall frame instantly commanding respect. Though retired, he still possessed the imposing stature of a man who had spent his life building an empire from the ground up. Derek took a half-step back, surprised by the older man's height, but quickly recovered his smug demeanor. Tyler, the third boy, chuckled nervously from the back, sensing the sudden shift in the atmosphere.
Before the confrontation could escalate further, a loud ringtone pierced the quiet air. Jason frowned, pulling a buzzing smartphone from his pocket. Seeing the caller ID, his expression shifted from arrogant to slightly annoyed. It was his father, Robert, a supervisor at the local Vance Industries lumber mill. Jason answered, putting the call on speaker to show off to his friends.

"Dad, I'm busy right now," Jason said, rolling his eyes.
"Jason, thank God you answered!" Robert's voice was frantic, trembling with sheer panic. "You need to come home immediately. The owner of the company, Mr. Thomas Vance, is visiting the mill today. He's deciding on major layoffs, and if we aren't all on our best behavior, I could lose my job! Our whole family relies on this mill!"
Jason smirked, glancing at Derek. "Relax, Dad. We're just down at the old docks, messing with some stubborn hobo who thinks he owns the lake. He's about to get a lesson."
Thomas stepped closer, his voice clear and resonant as he spoke directly toward the phone's microphone.
"Robert, is that you?" Thomas asked, his tone steady and commanding.
The frantic babbling on the other end of the line stopped instantly. A heavy, suffocating silence fell over the dock, broken only by the sound of Robert's ragged breathing. When Robert finally spoke, his voice was a terrified whisper.
"Mr... Mr. Vance? Is that really you, sir?"
”Vance? Is that really you, sir?"
