Previously: When an arrogant young shooter mocked 70-year-old Mona at the local range, he thought she was an easy target. But one look at her signature left the head official utterly speechless.

A Legend Revealed

The silence in the shooting range was suffocating. Adrian stared at the cursive signature on the registration form, his eyes wide. The name written in bold ink was Mona Vance. To the younger crowd, the name meant nothing, but to Adrian, it was the name of a ghost. Thirty-five years ago, Mona Vance was the undisputed national champion, a marksman whose precision had never been matched. And then, at the height of her career, she had vanished without a trace.

"Mona? Is it really you?"
Adrian asked, his voice cracking with emotion. He had been a young official when she walked away, and he had spent decades wondering what had happened to his mentor. Lenny stepped forward, his face flushed with embarrassment and anger.
"What's going on here, Adrian? Who is this old woman? She probably got lucky with a few shots!"
Lenny demanded, pointing an aggressive finger at Mona.

Adrian turned on Lenny, his voice suddenly sharp and commanding.

"Show some respect, young man. You are standing in the presence of the greatest shooter this country has ever seen. This woman set records that your father has spent his entire life trying to beat—and failed."

The crowd erupted into whispers. Lenny’s father, Marcus, was the wealthy benefactor of the range and a former champion himself. But Marcus had always lived in the shadow of Mona's legendary career. Lenny sneered, pulling out his phone.

"My father built this place, and he owns the land. If this old fraud thinks she can come in here and embarrass us, she’s wrong. I’m calling him right now,"
Lenny hissed, stomping away to make the call.

Mona stood her ground, her face a mask of determination. She looked at Adrian, offering a small, sad smile.

"I didn't want to cause a scene, Adrian. But I couldn't let Marcus tear this place down to build his luxury condos. I came to claim my rightful spot in the tournament."
