A Cocky Champion Mocked a Grandmother, Until an Official Saw Her Real Name
Previously: When 23-year-old Luke mocked 68-year-old Margaret at the local shooting range, he thought it was an easy win. But one look at her registration form changed everything.
The Final Shot
The range was dead silent as Albert set up the dual lanes for the sudden-death shoot-off. The news had spread quickly, and a crowd of local shooters gathered behind the safety glass, eager to witness the clash between the young champion and the forgotten legend. Luke stepped up first, his knuckles white as he gripped his modern, high-tech pistol. He was determined to erase Margaret's name once and for all.
Luke raised his weapon and fired. His shots were fast and precise, scoring an impressive ninety-eight out of a hundred. He lowered his gun, a triumphant, cocky smirk returning to his face. He believed he had sealed his victory.

Margaret stepped up to her lane. She closed her eyes for a brief second, remembering the husband who had supported her through the darkest times of her banishment, and the grandson she was standing up for today. When she opened her eyes, there was no doubt left in them. She raised her vintage pistol, a weapon built for precision rather than speed, and began to shoot.
Each shot rang out in a perfect, rhythmic cadence. Bang. Bang. Bang. The crowd watched in absolute awe as the targets returned. Ten shots, ten perfect bullseyes. A perfect one hundred. The crowd erupted into cheers, and even Albert couldn't help but applaud. Luke stared at the scoreboard, completely shattered, his arrogance evaporating into stunned silence.
Margaret didn't gloat. She walked over to Luke, looking him directly in the eyes with a gentle but firm expression.
"Your father took my career, Luke," Margaret said softly. "But he could never take my talent. Remember that true champions are built on respect, not arrogance."
Luke lowered his head, humbled for the first time in his life, and quietly stepped back. Albert walked over to Margaret, handing her the official registration card with a proud smile, restoring her name to the top of the leaderboard where it belonged. Margaret walked out of the range into the warm afternoon sun, finally free of the past, having proven that true grace and legendary talent never grow old.
