The repercussions of the shower room confrontation were immediate. By eight o'clock the following morning, Jessica was summoned to the base commander's office. News of the incident had spread like wildfire through the ranks, threatening to disrupt the delicate hierarchy of the camp. When Jessica walked in, she found Ryan standing at rigid attention, flanked by his father, the powerful and highly influential Colonel Vance.

Colonel Vance's face was flushed with anger. He glared at Jessica as if she were a stain on his family's pristine military record. He immediately turned his wrath toward the Base Commander, demanding swift and severe punishment for what he called an unprovoked assault on his son.

She was Jessica Vance-Halloway, the daughter of General Halloway, the Joint Chiefs of Staff commander who was currently conducting a classified investigation into systemic hazing and corruption within this very division.

The color drained instantly from Colonel Vance's face. "That's impossible," he whispered, realizing that his son's attempt to humiliate Jessica had just handed the ultimate weapon to the very woman sent to expose his corrupt family legacy.
