Previously: When Officer Heather's corrupt partner lured her into the deep woods and tied her to a tree, he thought he had won. He didn't know she was already three steps ahead.

As the sirens grew louder, Heather closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She knew she had to trust the contingency plan she had set up days ago. She looked back up at Andrew, her eyes shining with absolute resolve.

The Final Trap

"Go ahead, Andrew. Send the text," Heather said, her voice steady once more.

Andrew frowned, confused by her sudden lack of fear. He aggressively tapped the screen, sending the command. He watched the live feed, expecting to see the masked figure break through the glass. Instead, the balcony door suddenly burst open from the inside. Three heavily armed tactical officers rushed out, slamming the masked intruder to the floor and cuffing him instantly. Clara jumped up from the couch, startled but completely safe as an agent guided her away from the window.

Andrew stared at the screen in utter disbelief.

"How... how did you know?" he stammered, dropping the phone onto the damp leaves.
"I didn't just track myself, Andrew," Heather revealed, a cold smile playing on her lips. "I put a detail on Clara the moment I realized you were dirty. I knew you'd go after her."

Before Andrew could react, the headlights of three unmarked SUVs swept over the clearing. Armed Internal Affairs agents poured out, weapons drawn, surrounding the corrupt detective. Andrew threw his hands in the air, his knees buckling as he was forced to the ground and handcuffed.

An agent walked over, cutting the ropes that bound Heather to the tree. She stood up, rubbing her bruised wrists, and looked down at her former partner as he was led away in shame. She had risked everything, but justice had prevailed. True strength lies not in the power we abuse, but in the trust we keep and the courage to stand up for what is right, no matter the cost.
