Before Thomas could seize the envelope, the heavy glass door of the diner swung open once more. But it wasn't another local deputy. Walking into the diner was State Police Captain Miller, accompanied by two federal agents. I had contacted them days ago, arranging to meet them at this very diner to hand over the evidence I had spent months gathering.
Thomas froze, his face turning pale. Captain Miller looked at the chaotic scene, then at me. "Officer Amanda Jenkins," Miller said, nodding respectfully. "I believe you have something for us?"

I handed the sealed envelope to Captain Miller, while keeping my eyes fixed on Thomas. "Right here, Captain. Along with high-definition footage of Sheriff Thomas attempting to assault a military officer and threatening a service animal to cover up his crimes."
Thomas tried to protest, claiming it was all a misunderstanding, but the federal agents stepped forward, ignoring his excuses. Within seconds, the cuffs were slapped onto his wrists, and the man who had terrorized this town for a decade was led out in disgrace. The diner erupted into spontaneous applause, the heavy cloud of fear finally lifting from the community.
Rex sat down beside me, letting out a soft sigh as if he knew the battle was won. I knelt down, hugging his neck tightly, grateful for his unwavering loyalty. True strength isn't about wearing a badge or wielding power over others; it is about standing up for those who cannot stand up for themselves, no matter how powerful the bully might seem.
