A Cruel Manager Tried to Evict a Fragile Widow—Until She Pointed at the Founder's Portrait
The Forgotten Legacy
The air inside Vance Timepieces was thick with the scent of expensive leather and polished mahogany. Under the warm glow of crystal chandeliers, Liam carefully polished a platinum chronograph. He took pride in his work, believing that a watch was not just a tool to tell time, but a vessel for memories. His manager, Sarah, stood near the entrance, her sharp eyes scanning the room for wealthy patrons. She wore a tailored black business suit and possessed a cold, calculating demeanor that made the staff tremble.
The store's quiet atmosphere was shattered when the heavy glass doors opened. An elderly woman in a faded winter coat rolled inside in a basic wheelchair. Her hands were trembling as she approached the main counter. Sarah immediately intercepted her, her nose upturned.
"Can I help you with something? We operate by appointment only for our exclusive clientele,"Sarah said, her voice dripping with condescension.

The woman, Clara, didn't seem bothered. She reached into her pocket and placed a dusty, heavily scratched vintage watch onto the pristine glass showcase.
"I was hoping someone could clean and repair this,"she whispered. Sarah sneered openly.
"We don't repair trash here. Please leave before I call security,"she commanded.
Liam couldn't watch this cruelty. He stepped forward, bypassing Sarah.
"I can look at it, ma'am,"he said gently. He picked up the watch and began to carefully wipe away decades of grime. Sarah glared at him, whispering fiercely,
"You're going to lose your job over this."Liam ignored her, gently fastening the watch onto Clara's frail wrist.
"To her, it matters,"he replied.
Clara smiled warmly, pulling an old paper envelope from her lap. She pulled out a vintage photograph of a young man wearing the exact same watch. Liam's eyes widened. He looked from the photo to the massive oil painting of the company's founder, Arthur Vance, hanging on the wall.
"Is he the founder?"Liam asked. Clara looked up, her voice steady and powerful.
"And I am his wife."
