Previously: When Megan was cruelly fired and humiliated at her grocery store job, her protective father Brad stepped in. But his confrontation with her tormentor revealed a dark, deeply personal betrayal.

Justice Served

The next morning, Megan and Brad did not go to the police right away. Instead, they contacted the regional director of Oakridge Market, Mrs. Gable, a no-nonsense executive who took financial integrity very seriously. Armed with Brad's digital evidence and the network logs proving that Mr. Vance had manually altered the safe logs to frame Megan, they requested an emergency meeting at the store. Mrs. Gable agreed, arriving at the branch with two corporate auditors and a pair of local police detectives.

When Megan and Brad walked back through the sliding glass doors, Mr. Vance was standing near the register. Seeing Megan, his face flushed with anger.

"I told you to stay off this property!" Vance yelled, stepping forward. "Do I need to have you arrested for trespassing?"
But his voice died in his throat as Mrs. Gable stepped out from behind Brad, followed by the detectives.
"Actually, Mr. Vance, you are the one who needs to worry about being arrested," Mrs. Gable said coldly.

Within minutes, the auditors accessed the store’s main computer, matching Brad's files with the live database. Tyler, who had arrived at the store to collect what he thought was his final payoff from Vance, walked straight into the trap. The detectives intercepted him in the lobby. As the evidence of their joint embezzlement scheme was laid bare on the screen, Vance’s confidence crumbled, and he began desperately blaming Tyler. Tyler, realizing he was cornered, could only stare in silent shock as the handcuffs were slipped onto his wrists.

With both men led away in police cruisers, Mrs. Gable turned to Megan with a look of deep regret. She formally apologized for the horrific treatment Megan had endured and offered her not only her job back, but a promotion to assistant store manager with a significant raise. Looking at her father, Megan felt a profound wave of relief wash over her. Sometimes, the darkest betrayals are merely the catalyst we need to find our true strength and secure the justice we deserve.
