Previously: When Megan was cruelly fired and humiliated at her grocery store job, her protective father Brad stepped in. But his confrontation with her tormentor revealed a dark, deeply personal betrayal.

The Confrontation and the Secret

Brad’s powerful voice cut through the quiet parking lot, stopping Tyler dead in his tracks. The smug smile on Tyler's face faltered for a fraction of a second before returning with a cold, condescending sneer. Brad stood tall, his hands clenched into fists, shielding Megan behind his broad shoulders.

"What did you do to my daughter?" Brad demanded, his voice trembling with a father’s protective fury. "Speak up, before I make you."

Tyler scoffed, taking a step back but maintaining his arrogant posture.

"Your daughter is a thief, Brad," Tyler lied smoothly, loud enough for passing customers to hear. "She’s been skimming cash from the safe to pay for your medical bills. Ask her yourself. If you don't get her out of here right now, the police are going to drag her away in handcuffs."

Megan grabbed her father's arm, begging him to leave. She knew Tyler was trying to bait him into a physical fight. Swallowing his anger for his daughter's sake, Brad guided Megan to his truck. They drove home in a heavy, suffocating silence. Once inside their small living room, Megan broke down, explaining the stolen safe key, Tyler’s threats, and Mr. Vance’s refusal to listen to her side of the story.

Instead of panicking, Brad’s expression shifted from anger to a cold, calculated resolve. He walked over to his closet and pulled out a dusty, locked briefcase. Inside was an old laptop and a flash drive. Years ago, Brad had worked as a security consultant for the commercial real estate firm that owned the grocery store's building. He had kept backup files of the store's digital network logs after noticing strange financial discrepancies.

"Tyler thinks he's the only one who knows how to play dirty," Brad said, opening a spreadsheet. "He and Mr. Vance have been embezzling thousands of dollars from this store for months. They used you as a scapegoat to cover their own tracks before the annual audit next week."
Megan stared at the screen in absolute shock. The proof was undeniable, but taking down her former boss and her dangerous ex would require a massive risk.
