Previously: When Martha's daughter and son-in-law cornered her on a private yacht, she thought it was the end. But they didn't know about the secret her late husband left behind.

The Secret Clause

As Martha clung to the railing, her heart hammered against her ribs. She knew she couldn't outstrength her daughter, but she had one weapon they hadn't anticipated: the truth. Summoning every ounce of courage she had left, Martha forced herself to look directly into Sarah's cold eyes.

"You think my death will solve your financial problems?" Martha whispered, her voice suddenly steady. "You think you will inherit everything?"

Sarah hesitated, her grip loosening slightly. Arthur took a step forward, his arrogant smirk faltering. "What is she talking about, Sarah?" he demanded, his eyes narrowing. "She signed the transfer papers yesterday."

Martha let out a weak, breathless laugh. "Those papers are worthless," she revealed. "Your father knew what kind of man you were marrying, Sarah. He didn't trust Arthur, and he didn't trust what you were becoming under his influence. Before Charles died, he set up a private, secondary trust in a safety deposit box that I only opened last night."

She explained that Charles had inserted a strict moral turpitude clause. If Martha died under any suspicious circumstances, or if there was even a whisper of foul play, the entire family estate—including the yacht, the mansion, and the offshore accounts—would instantly be liquidated and donated to a maritime charity. Sarah and Arthur would be left with absolutely nothing but a mountain of debt.

"You're lying!" Sarah screamed, her voice cracking as panic finally began to set in. She shook her mother violently. "You're just trying to save your own skin!"

But Arthur’s face had gone completely pale. As a financial advisor, he knew how meticulously Charles handled his legal affairs. He realized that if Martha went over that railing, their dreams of wealth would vanish forever. He reached out and grabbed Sarah's shoulder, pulling her back. "Stop, Sarah! We need to think about this," he hissed.

We need to think about this," he hissed.
