The Day My Presumed Dead Husband Appeared Outside Our Glass Patio Doors
Previously: When Sarah noticed a strange shadow outside her glass patio doors, she never expected to see her husband, who had vanished a year ago. But his return came with a terrifying warning.
A Ghost at the Door
I practically tore the lock off the door and threw it open. Julian stumbled inside, collapsing into my arms. He felt real, warm, and desperately alive. I held him tight, sobbing against his shoulder as Lily watched us with wide, bewildered eyes.
"Julian, oh my God, you're alive," I wept, clutching his tattered jacket. "Where have you been? They told me you drowned!"
Julian pulled back, his hands gripping my shoulders. His eyes were wide with a frantic, desperate terror.

"Sarah, listen to me," he whispered quickly. "I didn't run away, and I didn't drown. It was Thomas. He had me kept in a private facility upstate. He wanted my shares of the family estate, and he threatened to kill you and Lily if I ever tried to escape."
My blood ran cold. Thomas, Julian’s older brother, had been my sole support system this past year. He had paid our mortgage, brought toys for Lily, and comforted me in my darkest hours. It was all a sick, calculated lie.
Before I could process the betrayal, the sound of a car engine roared in the driveway. Julian stiffened, his face turning paper-white. I peeked through the front window and saw a sleek black sedan. Thomas stepped out, wearing a tailored suit and a cold, confident smirk. He began walking up our front path.
"He found me," Julian gasped, panic overtaking him. "He knows I escaped. Sarah, he has a key to this house!"
Before we could run, we heard the sickening click of the front door lock turning. The door swung open, and Thomas stepped into the entryway, holding a heavy manila folder.
"What a touching family reunion," Thomas sneered, closing the door behind him. "But I'm afraid this little fantasy ends today."
Julian stepped in front of us, shielding Lily and me.
"It's over, Thomas," Julian spat. "I'm going to the authorities."
Thomas laughed, pulling a document from the folder.
"With what proof? To the world, you're a fraud who faked his death. And if you don't cooperate, I will make sure none of you ever leave this house."
He reached into his pocket, and my heart stopped.
