An Elderly Baker Saved a Starving Girl, Years Later She Saved His Bakery
Previously: When a kindhearted baker gave a starving little girl a free sandwich and a stamped napkin, he never expected her to return decades later to save his life's work from ruthless developers.
The Ruthless Trap
The corporate lawyer looked at the certified check and the black card Lily held out, but instead of backing down, a wicked grin spread across his face. He snatched the documents from her hand, scanning them briefly before tossing them onto the hood of his car.
"Nice try, lady,"he sneered, crossing his arms.
"But your money is no good here. The foreclosure deed was finalized and processed at nine o'clock this morning. This property officially belongs to our development group now."
Before Arthur could process the crushing news, the roaring engine of a massive yellow bulldozer echoed down the street, rounding the corner like a mechanical beast. The demolition crew had arrived. Arthur felt his knees grow weak. His life’s work, his memories of his late wife, and the last piece of soul in this neighborhood were about to be reduced to rubble. He rushed forward, desperate to block the machine. "No! You can't do this!" he cried out.

The ruthless lawyer shoved Arthur back onto the hard pavement.
"Get out of the way, old man, before we bury you with it,"he snapped. Lily’s eyes flashed with pure fury. She helped Arthur up, then turned to the lawyer, grabbing his wrist with an iron grip.
"If you lay another hand on him, I will dismantle your entire career,"she whispered, her voice dripping with icy authority.
The lawyer laughed nervously, demanding she let go. But Lily calmly opened her leather briefcase and pulled out a fresh, official document bearing a gold seal. She held it directly in front of the lawyer's face. As his eyes read the bold print at the top of the page, all the color drained from his face. His hands began to shake violently, and his arrogant smirk completely vanished.
