Previously: When Arthur’s closest partners frame him for a multi-million-dollar theft at a luxury gala, he must choose between clearing his name and saving his daughter’s life-saving trust fund.

The Hostage Clause

Two hours later, the luxury of the rooftop was replaced by the sterile, cold walls of a police holding cell. Arthur sat on a metal bench, his pristine tuxedo now wrinkled and stained. The door buzzed open, and his defense attorney, Marcus, rushed in with a leather briefcase.

"Arthur, this is bad," Marcus said, his voice hushed. "Sienna has presented the board with digital signatures, IP logs, and transfer authorizations. On paper, it looks like you spent the last six months draining the corporate accounts."

Arthur let out a dry, humorless laugh. "Of course she did. Sienna is the only other person with root access to my terminal. She framed me to take sole control of Vanguard." He leaned in closer to his lawyer. "But she forgot one thing. During the server upgrade last month, I installed a decentralized backup drive. It records every single keystroke and active screen in the executive suite. I have proof that she forged my digital signature."

Marcus's eyes lit up with hope. "That's it! We can take this to the district attorney and clear your name before the formal indictment."

But before Arthur could celebrate, Marcus's phone buzzed with an urgent news alert. He stared at the screen, his face turning completely pale. "Oh no. Arthur... look at this."

He slid the phone across the table. Sienna had just released a public statement announcing Arthur's immediate suspension. But the real blow was the legal loophole she had triggered. According to the company's bylaws, any executive indicted for grand larceny would have their corporate assets—including family trust funds—frozen immediately to protect shareholders.

"My daughter's trust," Arthur whispered, his blood turning to ice. "Lily's leukemia treatments... they're funded entirely by that trust. If they freeze it, the hospital will stop the therapy."

Sienna knew about the backup drive. She had structured the accusation so that if Arthur fought back and triggered a prolonged legal battle, his daughter would pay the price. He was trapped in a cruel, impossible dilemma.
