My Father Saluted Me as a Stranger—But My Real Identity Saved His Life
Previously: When Admiral Richard Vance saluted a mysterious woman on his naval base, he had no idea she was the daughter he thought had died five years ago—and she was there to save him.

Without a word, Admiral Vance lowered his hand and ushered Maya toward his private office, bypassing the curious glances of his staff. Once behind the heavy oak door, he locked it, turning to her with desperate questions. But Maya held up a hand, her expression grim.
"We don't have time, Dad," she whispered, using the word she hadn't spoken in five years. "The threat isn't gone. The mole who orchestrated Mom's death and forced me into hiding—he's here, on this base."
Richard gasped, his hand trembling as he reached for her. "I was told you died in a car accident in Europe, Maya. I grieved you every single day. Who did this to us?"

Before Maya could answer, the lock on the office door clicked. The heavy wood swung open, revealing Vice Admiral Bradley, Richard's lifelong friend and chief of staff. Behind him stood two armed naval security guards, their faces expressionless.
"I must say, I'm impressed, Maya," Bradley said, stepping into the room with a cold, triumphant smile. "I thought my operatives had finished you years ago. Yet here you are, walking right into my hands."
Richard stepped protectively in front of his daughter, his voice booming with authority. "Bradley! What is the meaning of this? Stand down immediately!"
Bradley chuckled, a chilling sound. "I'm afraid your authority ends today, Richard. Your daughter is an unregistered intruder and a suspected foreign spy. Guards, arrest her. If the Admiral resists, detain him for treason."
The guards drew their sidearms, aiming them directly at Maya. The room felt suffocatingly small. Maya looked at her father, seeing the terror in his eyes—not for himself, but for her. Bradley had cut the external communication lines, and they were completely isolated inside the heart of the naval base.
