Previously: When Admiral Richard Vance saluted a mysterious woman on his naval base, he had no idea she was the daughter he thought had died five years ago—and she was there to save him.

The Trap Snaps Shut

Bradley took a slow step forward, his eyes gleaming with malicious satisfaction. "You should have stayed dead, Maya. Now, both you and your father will go down as traitors to the state."

But instead of panicking, Maya let out a soft, mocking laugh. She uncrossed her arms, revealing a small, blinking LED device pinned to the inside collar of her olive jacket. Bradley's smile instantly vanished.

"Did you really think I would walk onto this base without insurance, Bradley?" Maya asked, her voice dripping with ice. "This is a military-grade transmitter. Every word you just said has been broadcasted live to the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Director of Naval Intelligence."

Bradley's face drained of color. "You're bluffing," he stammered, gesturing frantically to the guards. "Shoot her!"

But the guards didn't move. Instead, they lowered their weapons and turned them directly toward Bradley. One of the guards stepped forward, removing his cap to reveal the face of a high-ranking federal marshal. "Vice Admiral Bradley, you are under arrest for treason, conspiracy, and the murder of Evelyn Vance."

A dozen more armed agents flooded into the office, quickly disarming and handcuffing a stunned Bradley. As he was dragged away in silence, the heavy tension in the room finally broke.

Richard turned to Maya, tears streaming down his face. He wrapped his arms around her, holding her tight for the first time in five years. "You saved us, sweetheart," he whispered. "You brought her justice."

Maya buried her face in her father's shoulder, finally feeling safe. The long years in the shadows were over, and she had finally come home. True strength lies not in the secrets we keep to protect ourselves, but in the courage to face the truth together.
