Previously: When Thomas interrupted his daughter's luxury wedding, the guests expected a sweet toast. Instead, he exposed a dark family secret that changed their lives forever.

A Web of Lies Unravels

The tension in the ballroom was thick enough to cut with a knife. Guests leaned forward, their whispers hushed but frantic. My groom, Julian, reached over and took my hand, his palm sweaty with anxiety. "Thomas, what are you doing?" Eleanor hissed, her voice a sharp whisper that barely carried past our table. "Sit down this instant!"

But Thomas ignored her. He pulled a yellowed envelope from his breast pocket. "For twenty years, I have lived under the thumb of a woman who threatened to destroy me," he said, his voice growing stronger. "When Sarah's biological mother, Marianne, fell ill, Eleanor saw an opportunity. She used her family's immense wealth to manipulate the legal system. She threatened to tie us up in custody battles we could never afford, promising that I would never see my daughter again unless I agreed to her terms."

I felt the room spin. "What is he talking about, Eleanor?" I whispered, turning to the woman who had raised me. Eleanor didn't look at me; her eyes were fixed on my father on the stage. "He's insane, Sarah. He’s ruining your wedding!" she spat, her elegant facade completely cracking.

My father continued, tears now streaming down his face. "Eleanor paid Marianne’s medical bills on one condition: that she sign away her parental rights and disappear. And to ensure Marianne never came back, Eleanor threatened to ruin her entire family. I was forced to tell Sarah that her mother had abandoned her. I was forced to live a lie to keep my daughter."

The ballroom erupted into outraged murmurs. Eleanor stood up, knocking her chair backward with a loud clatter. "You coward!" she screamed at the stage. "You signed those papers too! You chose the money!"

"I chose my daughter!" Thomas roared back. "But today, the lies end. Sarah, your mother never stopped looking for you. She is standing outside those doors right now."

She is standing outside those doors right now."
