The midday sun beat down mercilessly on the weathered concrete of Blackwood Penitentiary’s main yard. High razor-wire fences buzzed with tension, and the guards in the watchtowers watched with deliberate apathy. Today was the day the hierarchy was supposed to break Paige. Framed for a crime she did not commit by a corrupt administration, she had been thrown into the worst block of the facility. But she wasn't an ordinary inmate.

A Clash of Giants

A thick crowd of inmates in bright orange jumpsuits formed a tight circle, their voices rising in a low, bloodthirsty chant. At the center of the ring stood Garrett. He was a colossal, heavily tattooed man with a wild mane of curly brown hair and a rugged beard that made him look like a modern-day Viking. He was the warden's personal enforcer, a man who had never lost a fight inside these walls. He loomed over Paige, who looked incredibly slender and fragile by comparison.

Paige stood her ground in her blue tank top and orange trousers, her short black hair catching the glare of the harsh noon light. She didn't have weapons, and she didn't have allies, but her posture was perfectly balanced. Garrett smiled mockingly down at her, enjoying the audience's anticipation.

"Well, show us what you're capable of," Garrett sneered, his voice echoing off the concrete walls.

The crowd erupted in cheers. To escalate the intimidation, Garrett flexed his massive arms, the ink on his skin stretching, and let out a terrifying, guttural roar that shook the air. Any other inmate would have cowered. But Paige didn't even blink. She stood completely unfazed, her dark eyes locked onto his, waiting for the giant to make his move. The silence that followed her defiance was deafening.
