Previously: When Lieutenant Avery Vale is forced to strip off her jacket in front of her entire platoon, a shocking secret on her back exposes a massive military conspiracy.

The sight of a commander drawing a weapon on an unarmed lieutenant shocked the entire base. The military police officers who had stepped forward to arrest Avery suddenly halted, their eyes darting between Vance's trembling gun and Avery's calm demeanor.

The Legacy Restored

"Lower your weapon, Commander," Avery said softly, her voice steady. "The whole base is watching. You can't kill the truth."
"I will put you down for treason right here!" Vance snarled, his finger tightening on the trigger.

Before he could pull it, the heavy iron gates of the camp courtyard burst open. Three black SUVs tore across the gravel, stopping in a defensive formation around Avery. Armed federal agents wearing the tactical gear of the Criminal Investigation Division and the Inspector General's office poured out, their rifles trained instantly on Vance and the balcony.

"Drop your weapon, Commander Vance!" the lead investigator bellowed through a megaphone. "Step away from Lieutenant Vale!"

Vance looked around wildly, realizing he was completely surrounded. On the balcony, General Briggs tried to slip back into the offices, but two federal agents were already there, tackling him to the ground and placing him in zip-ties in full view of the entire platoon. Slowly, Vance let his pistol slip from his fingers, his knees buckling as he realized his reign of corruption was over.

The lead investigator walked over to Avery, picking up her faded camo jacket from the dirt. He brushed it off and handed it back to her with a respectful nod.

"Your father would be proud, Lieutenant Vale," the investigator said. "His name, and the names of the Shadow Wolves, will be fully cleared by sunset."

Avery slipped the jacket back on, feeling the warmth of her father's legacy wrap around her. The platoon of soldiers, now realizing the depth of the deception they had been fed, stood at attention and saluted her in absolute silence. It was a salute of profound respect and apology. Truth, though buried deep in the desert sands, has a way of rising to the light when guarded by those brave enough to fight for it.
