Previously: When Lieutenant Sarah Vale was ordered to strip off her uniform in front of her entire platoon, she knew they wanted to humiliate her—but her secret tattoo changed everything.

The Hidden Key

Colonel Vance sneered, stepping closer as the guards moved in to surround Sarah. "You played a dangerous game, Lieutenant, and you lost. The Shadow Wolves were disbanded for a reason. Carrying their mark is a federal offense, and now we have all the proof we need to lock you away forever."

Sarah didn't flinch. She kept her gaze locked on Vance’s cold eyes. "You think this tattoo is a symbol of rebellion, Colonel? You always did lack imagination. My father didn't just leave me a legacy. He left me a safeguard."

Before Vance could command his guards to seize her, the heavy iron gates of the outpost began to grind open with a mechanical shriek. A fleet of black, unmarked SUVs roared into the courtyard, kicking up a massive cloud of dust that blinded the guards. The vehicles screeched to a halt, forming a protective barrier around Sarah. From the lead vehicle stepped Director Hayes of the Federal Intelligence Oversight Committee, holding a specialized biometric scanner.

"Stand down, Colonel Vance," Director Hayes commanded, his voice carrying an authority that brooked no argument. "By order of the Department of Defense, this base is under federal lockdown."

Vance’s face drained of color. "Director, this is a military matter. This woman is a traitor. She bears the mark of the rogue Shadow Wolves."

Hayes walked past Vance, ignoring him completely, and approached Sarah. He raised the scanner, pointing it at the wolf tattoo on her back. A soft blue light washed over her skin. The ink, embedded with microscopic metallic compounds, reacted to the scan. A low chime echoed from the device, and a holographic display projected a massive stream of encrypted files into the desert air.

"This isn't just a tattoo, Vance," Sarah said, a cold smile finally touching her lips. "It's the decryption key to my father's private servers. Every illegal weapon sale, every offshore bank account, and every name involved in his murder is right here."
