Previously: When a powerful warrior failed to draw the legendary sword, he declared it impossible. But a dirt-smudged boy stepped forward, and his touch awakened an ancient, long-buried secret.

With hundreds of bows pointed at his chest, Arthur felt the cold grip of panic. Borin sneered, confident that no magic could save the boy from a volley of steel-tipped arrows.

"You may have the sword, boy, but you do not have an army," Borin hissed, raising his hand to signal the archers. "Yield the blade, or you die where you stand."

The True King's Light

But Merlin looked at Arthur and whispered, "A king does not rule by fear, Arthur. He rules by the light within him. Let them see who you are." Arthur closed his eyes and breathed in. Instead of preparing to fight, he raised the legendary sword high above his head. He didn't point it at Borin; instead, he allowed the light of the blade to expand. The brilliant white light flared, casting away the shadows of the gorge and revealing the true royal crest on the hilt, shining like a beacon.

The light was so pure, so warm, that it touched the hearts of the mercenaries above. Many of them had served the old king before the usurpers took over. They recognized the legendary light of Pendragon. One by one, the archers lowered their bows. A murmur of awe rippled through the ranks.

"He is the true heir," one of the mercenary captains called out, dropping to one knee on the cliffside. "The Pendragon light has returned!"

Realizing he had lost his army, Borin charged Arthur in a desperate, final act of fury. But Arthur, guided by the ancient spirit of the blade, parried the blow effortlessly. With a swift sweep, he disarmed the warlord, sending Borin's sword clattering into the rocks. Arthur held the glowing tip of his blade at Borin's throat, but he did not strike.

"I will not start my reign with blood," Arthur declared, his voice filled with a newfound, kingly authority. "Go, Borin. Tell the world that the shadow over this kingdom is finally gone."

Humiliated and defeated, Borin retreated into the mist. As the soldiers poured down from the cliffs to swear their allegiance to their new king, Arthur realized his life as a forgotten servant boy was over. He was ready to rebuild the kingdom, proving that true nobility is not born of brute force, but of a pure and courageous heart.
