They Framed Me and Put Me in Prison, But They Forgot My Real Name
Previously: Sentenced to maximum security for a crime she didn't commit, Tessa faced the prison's most terrifying inmate. But what they didn't know was that she was prepared for this exact moment.
The tiny silver drive lay in the dust, glinting under the harsh yard lights. Julian was too busy staring in terror at Kane's massive, advancing figure to notice what he had dropped. But Kane noticed. He looked from the drive to me, then back to Julian, whose frantic tapping on his phone screen confirmed his worst fears. The offshore accounts were indeed locked.
A New Alliance
Julian had betrayed the most dangerous man in Blackwood. With a roar of fury, Kane didn't strike me. Instead, he lunged forward and grabbed Julian by the lapels of his expensive suit, slamming him against the concrete wall. The corrupt guards instinctively reached for their batons, but a sudden, menacing surge from the surrounding inmates forced them to freeze. In this yard, Kane’s word was law, and the inmates were ready to riot at his command.

As Julian whimpered, begging for mercy, Kane casually reached down with his free hand, scooped the silver USB drive out of the gravel, and pressed it firmly into my palm.
"Get your justice, kid," Kane grunted, not looking back as he dragged Julian toward the blind spot of the watchtowers.
Two weeks later, the contents of that drive were presented to a federal judge. The encrypted files proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Julian had orchestrated the entire embezzlement scheme and framed me to cover his tracks. The corrupt guards were suspended, Julian was arrested and stripped of his assets, and my conviction was fully overturned.
As I walked out of the heavy iron gates of Blackwood Penitentiary a free woman, I looked back one last time. I had entered those walls as a victim, but I left knowing that true strength isn't about physical power—it's about having the courage to stand unfazed when the giants of the world try to tear you down.
