The Warden had realized an undercover investigator was in their midst, and they needed to silence her before she could expose the multi-million dollar smuggling ring operating within the prison walls.

"Inmate Jade, step away from Dean. You're being transferred to solitary immediately,"

Captain Miller barked, his hand resting heavily on his baton. Everyone in the yard knew what "solitary" meant for troublemakers—it was a place where people disappeared or met with unfortunate accidents. Dean looked from Jade to the guards, realizing that his own survival was tied to hers. If Jade fell, the Warden would surely eliminate Dean next to clean up any remaining loose ends.
