Previously: When a ruthless prison giant corners newly transferred inmate Tara in the yard, he expects her to beg for mercy. Instead, her calm smile reveals a secret that terrifies the entire block.

A Dangerous Whisper

Before I was framed and sent to this hellhole, I was a lead detective specializing in organized crime. I knew every file, every corrupt player, and most importantly, I knew Tyson’s history. Years ago, his younger brother had been murdered inside these very walls, a crime blamed on a rival gang. But the paperwork I had secretly secured before my arrest proved a much darker truth.

As Tyson leaned in close, his massive fist clenching, I spoke in a voice so quiet it was barely a breath. "If you hit me, Tyson, you'll never find out who actually murdered your brother," I whispered.

He froze. The anger in his eyes flickered, replaced by a sudden, sharp panic. "What did you say?" he growled, his voice dropping to a low rumble. He grabbed my collar, putting on a show of aggression for the watching crowd, but his grip was trembling.

"The warden set him up," I whispered back, maintaining direct eye contact. "Your brother found out about the warden's smuggling ring. I have the ledger hidden in the library. Kill me, and the truth dies with me."

Just then, Lieutenant Miller, a notoriously corrupt guard, marched into the yard. Sensing Tyson's hesitation, Miller drew his nightstick, his eyes gleaming with malicious intent. "What's the matter, Tyson?" Miller barked. "Can't handle a girl? Maybe I should teach her a lesson myself." Miller was moving in, and I knew he had orders from the warden to silence me permanently. Tyson looked at the guard, then down at me, forced to make a choice that would change both of our lives forever.
