Previously: When a mysterious man crashed Sarah's elegant family dinner, a sliding gold pocket watch unraveled a web of betrayal that threatened to destroy her family's legacy forever.

The Uninvited Guest

Victor stood up slowly, the gold pocket watch clenched tightly in his black leather glove. The silence in the room was absolute, broken only by the steady, rhythmic ticking of the timepiece. Arthur’s face had drained of all color, his previous rage replaced by a sudden, paralyzing fear.

"Victor,"
Arthur whispered, his voice trembling.
"You were banned from this estate fifteen years ago. Get out."

Victor didn't flinch. He looked around the table at the wealthy guests who had just watched a father strike his daughter without a single word of protest.

"I see nothing has changed in this house of cowards,"
Victor said, his voice low and dangerous. He looked down at Sarah and offered his hand, helping her up from the sea of shattered glass.

Sarah wiped a tear from her cheek, her face burning from the blow, but her eyes were fixed on her uncle.

"Victor, why do you have my mother's watch? My father told me it was lost,"
she pleaded, her voice shaking.

Victor turned his cold gaze back to Arthur. He reached inside his dark trench coat and pulled out a weathered, leather-bound journal.

"Your father lied to you about everything, Sarah. Just like he lied to the police fifteen years ago."
He tossed the journal onto the mahogany table. It slid across the wood, stopping right in front of Arthur.
"This is Clara's diary. I found it in the old cabin. Open it, Sarah. Read page forty-two. Read what Arthur wrote to her the night she died."

Arthur lunged for the journal, but Victor stepped in front of him, his powerful frame blocking the older man effortlessly. Sarah grabbed the book and flipped it open. Her eyes scanned the page, and her heart shattered. It wasn't her mother's handwriting. It was a forged suicide note, written in Arthur's own hand, dated the day before Clara's tragic accident.
