A Grieving Mother Found Me Holding a Baby at Her Son's Grave
Previously: Cradling her newborn baby by the grave of the man she loved, Hannah thought she was completely alone. But when his grieving mother confronted her, a heartbreaking secret was finally brought to light.
The Storm Inside the Mansion
The shared grief under the willow tree seemed to bridge the immense gap between Hannah and Vivian, if only for a brief moment. Overwhelmed by the sudden revelation of her grandson's existence, Vivian insisted on taking Hannah and the baby back to her grand estate. She promised they would be safe, warm, and cared for. But the warmth of the mansion's massive fireplace did nothing to ease the chill that awaited them inside.
As soon as they stepped into the grand foyer, Julian's older brother, Marcus, intercepted them. Marcus had always been the cold, pragmatic heir to the family's shipping empire, a man who saw everything through the lens of assets and liabilities. When Vivian tearfully introduced the newborn as Julian’s son, Marcus's expression hardened into a mask of pure contempt.

"Mother, you cannot be serious," Marcus sneered, pulling Vivian aside into the study, though his voice easily carried across the room. "This girl is a master manipulator. She is trying to secure a piece of Julian's estate using a child that could belong to anyone!"
Hannah stood in the hallway, clutching her sleeping baby, her heart hammering against her ribs. She could hear Vivian trying to defend her, pointing out the baby's striking resemblance to Julian, but Marcus was relentless. He stepped out of the study and confronted Hannah directly, his eyes cold and calculating.
"Let me make one thing perfectly clear," Marcus whispered, his voice dripping with malice. "You have twenty-four hours to pack your things and sign a non-disclosure agreement, forfeiting any claim to the family fortune. If you refuse, my lawyers will file for sole custody of that child. We will declare you an unfit, unstable mother, and you will never see him again."
He produced a draft of a custody agreement, ready for her signature. Hannah looked at Vivian, pleading for help, but the older woman looked torn and intimidated by her eldest son's fierce determination. Hannah felt the walls closing in, realizing she was about to lose her son to a family with limitless power.
