The arrival of Michael, a high-profile corporate attorney, sent a murmur of confusion through the wedding guests. Victoria scoffed, smoothing down her emerald gown as she tried to maintain her composure. “A lawyer? Emily, stop this ridiculous theatrical display. Put your ring back on,” she ordered, her voice laced with authority.

But Michael ignored her completely. He walked straight to the head table, offering Emily a hand and helping her stand tall. He then opened his briefcase and produced a thick set of legal documents. Daniel stood up, his face flushing red with anger. “What is the meaning of this? This is my wedding reception!” he demanded.

Michael smiled thinly. “Arthur Vance was indeed a teacher, but he was also the silent partner and majority shareholder of Vance Enterprises, which was recently acquired for forty million dollars. Emily is the sole heir to that fortune.”

A collective gasp echoed through the ballroom. Daniel’s jaw dropped, and Victoria’s smug expression instantly melted into absolute shock. The very girl they had mocked for her modest background was suddenly wealthier than their entire family combined. Instantly, Daniel’s demeanor changed. He took a step forward, reaching for Emily's hand. “Emily, honey... I was just joking earlier. You know how stressful weddings are. I love you,” he pleaded, his voice trembling.

But Emily stepped back, standing beside her lawyer. Michael pulled out another document. “Before we proceed, we must address the prenuptial agreement you insisted Emily sign. The counter-clause dictates that in the event of public humiliation, the contract is breached, and Emily retains full control of her assets, while you owe a hefty penalty.”
