The silence in the station was deafening. Arthur stood frozen, his hand trembling as he slowly bent down to pick up Marcus’s military ID from the dirty floor. Arthur had blamed the Hayes family for ruining his life, carrying a bitter grudge for over a decade. When he saw Marcus in his dress whites, he saw an opportunity to exact a cruel, public revenge.

"This was a targeted attack, Lieutenant," the officer said. "We have enough to charge him with assault, harassment, and filing a false report. With your signature, we can ensure he faces federal prosecution."
