Previously: When a bitter security guard publicly accused a decorated Navy officer of wearing a fake uniform, he thought he was a hero. But a sudden announcement over the station speakers changed everything.

The Shocking Announcement

The authoritative voice echoing through the speakers commanded the attention of the entire terminal.

"Lieutenant Marcus Hayes, United States Navy, report immediately to the military escort post. Everyone else, step back."
The words hung in the air like a heavy fog. Thomas froze, his hand hovering over his handcuffs as the aggressive smirk on his face instantly withered into a mask of pure shock. The commuters whispered in hushed tones, realizing the gravity of the situation.

Before Thomas could even process his mistake, a tight phalanx of three armed Military Police officers marched down the corridor, their boots clicking in perfect unison against the tiled floor. Walking alongside them was Director Sarah Jenkins, the regional head of transit security and Thomas’s ultimate boss. Thomas stood paralyzed, his face draining of all color as the high-ranking delegation stopped directly in front of them.

Without acknowledging Thomas, Director Jenkins stepped forward, stood at perfect attention, and delivered a crisp salute to Marcus. "Lieutenant Hayes, it is an absolute honor to finally meet you in person," she said warmly, before turning her gaze to Thomas. The warmth in her eyes instantly vanished, replaced by a cold, furious glare that made the security guard tremble.

Thomas stammered, his bravado completely shattered. "Director... I was only doing my job. I suspected he was wearing a fake uniform..." Director Jenkins cut him off with a sharp raise of her hand. "Silence, Thomas," she commanded. "You have just assaulted a decorated combat veteran. But more than that, you have assaulted the man who saved my brother's life in the Middle East three years ago. Lieutenant Hayes is here today as the guest of honor for the city's annual military tribute."
