Julian stood frozen, his hand clutching his bright red cheek as whispers erupted like wildfire through the ballroom. Beatrice’s jaw was dropped in complete shock, her eyes darting between her fiancé and the mesmerizing woman walking away in the silver gown. Rage quickly replaced Julian's confusion. He could not allow a mere cleaning girl to humiliate him in front of high society, especially not on the night of his engagement celebration.

"Stop right there!" Julian roared, chasing after Clara and grabbing her wrist near the grand staircase. "You think you can assault me and just walk away? I will have you arrested and ruined!"

Clara stopped, turning slowly to look at his grip on her wrist. Her expression was entirely devoid of fear. Before she could speak, a commanding, powerful voice echoed from the top of the grand staircase, silencing the entire room.

"Release her immediately," the voice boomed.

Everyone turned to look. Standing at the top of the stairs was Arthur Vance, the legendary billionaire real estate tycoon and the host of the evening. Julian’s grip loosened instantly, his face draining of color. He assumed Arthur was angry at the disruption, and he quickly tried to spin the narrative.

"Mr. Vance, I am so sorry," Julian stammered, pointing a trembling finger at Clara. "This crazy maid snuck in and attacked me. I was just having her removed."

Arthur Vance walked down the stairs, his eyes cold and fixed entirely on Julian. He bypassed Julian completely, stepping up to Clara and gently taking her hand. He turned to face the crowd, his voice filled with pride and authority. "I believe there has been a misunderstanding," Arthur announced. "This is Clara Vance, my daughter and the sole heiress to the Vance empire."
