Previously: When Sergeant Travis tried to humiliate Megan in front of the entire platoon, he thought she was just an easy target. He didn't realize she held a secret that could end his career.

A Just Verdict

For a split second, Travis thought he could salvage the situation. He quickly smoothed down his hair, putting on a mask of military authority.

"Captain! Private Megan just physically assaulted me,"
Travis lied smoothly, pointing at Megan.
"She is out of control and needs to be detained immediately."
He looked at Megan with a smug grin, believing the commander would always take a sergeant's word over a low-ranking recruit's.

Captain Vance looked at Megan, then at Travis, his expression unreadable. Megan stood at attention, her posture perfect despite being wrapped in a towel.

"Captain,"
Megan said calmly,
"ten minutes before I entered this washroom, I forwarded an encrypted file to your personal terminal. It contains the complete digital ledger of Sergeant Travis's illegal black market sales, including the serial numbers of the stolen optics currently in his vehicle."

Travis scoffed, but his bravado vanished when Captain Vance pulled out his military tablet. The commander tapped the screen, his eyes scanning the detailed spreadsheets, photos, and bank transfer receipts Megan had meticulously gathered. Vance’s face hardened into stone. He looked up, his gaze locking onto Travis with absolute disgust.

"Sergeant, your game is over,"
the Captain barked. He gestured to the military police officers waiting in the hallway.
"Arrest Sergeant Travis and his accomplices for grand larceny and treason."

The hands that had once threatened Megan were clamped in handcuffs. As Travis was dragged out of the humid room, he refused to look Megan in the eye. Megan watched him go, feeling the immense weight lift from her shoulders. She had not only defended herself physically, but she had also dismantled a corrupt network from the inside. Walking back to her quarters, Megan knew she had proven that true strength isn't about rank or physical intimidation—it is about integrity, courage, and the willingness to stand up for what is right, no matter the cost.
