Previously: At an elite ballroom gala, a jealous socialite publicly humbles Lydia by tearing her dress to reveal her deep scars—until a legendary Admiral enters and reveals her true identity.

The Captain's Identity Revealed

The silence in the grand ballroom was suffocating. Victoria’s smug smile evaporated, her face twisting in confusion.

"Admiral Vance?" Charles stammered, stepping forward with trembling hands. "There must be some mistake. This is Lydia. She's... she's just a commoner. What do you mean, Captain?"

Admiral Vance turned a cold, piercing gaze onto Charles.

"Captain Lydia Sterling is a highly decorated special forces commander," Vance announced, his voice echoing off the high ceilings. "Those scars on her back are from a rocket-propelled grenade she took while shielding five of her fellow soldiers during a high-stakes rescue mission. She is a recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross. And you just treated her like trash."

The guests gasped, looking at Lydia with newfound awe and shame. The very scars they had mocked just moments ago were now revealed to be the ultimate symbols of bravery and sacrifice.

Lydia slowly pulled the remnants of her blouse together, her tears drying as her military posture returned. She looked at Charles, seeing him clearly for the first time—a coward who cared only about appearances.

But Admiral Vance wasn't finished. He stepped closer to Charles, pulling a black leather folder from his coat.

"Furthermore, Charles," Vance said quietly, though his words cut like a knife, "your family's shipping company has been under federal investigation for smuggling. The only reason your contracts weren't terminated months ago was because Captain Sterling here personally vouched for your family's character, believing you to be honorable people."

Charles stared at the folder, his knees shaking. He realized that by humiliating Lydia, he had not only lost the woman who loved him, but he had also signed the death warrant for his family's entire financial empire.

"Please, Lydia," Victoria whined, suddenly terrified as she realized their ruin was imminent. "We didn't know! It was just a joke!"
